In-Home Estimate

Our team will answer any questions you may have before we get started. We want your estimate to be brief and efficient, and we’ll only take about 15 minutes of your time. After we take all the necessary measurements and discuss your unique needs and timeline, we’ll deliver our quote and discuss our process from start to finish. We’ll make sure you’re prepared for the big day before we leave the premises. Shortly after our in-home estimate, you can expect to receive an agreement form by email so we can get started on your preferred date

Before We Get Started

Our team is ready to take care of the preparation and process, but we do need a little help before we get started! Ideally, we’ll take care of your popcorn removal just after you’ve purchased your home so you don’t have to worry about much prep work. However, if you’re settled in your home when you want the popcorn ceilings removed, that’s perfectly fine! We’ll just ask you to remove any items off the walls and flat surfaces, as well as small items of furniture, breakables, and valuable belongings. We’ll take care of the big stuff once we’re ready to get started.

Prep and process

If you’ve ever been through popcorn removal before, you know that it can create a huge mess. Preparation is the most important part of our process. We make sure your furniture, floors, and home are properly protected from wayward popcorn dust. We adhere wall plastic at the seam where the ceiling meets the walls, as well as running thick plastic across your floors, so no popcorn dust can work its way into the seams. After your space is contained, we remove your fixtures - like smoke detectors, fan blades, and A/C vents - to keep them protected and out of the way. Then, the real work begins. Our professionals start by misting your ceilings with water to help the texture come off easily. Then, once the popcorn has absorbed the liquid, we start scraping it away systematically. We repeat the process until there’s nothing left but drywall and joint mud. Our team is careful to be precise and cautious during this process so we don’t have to do much touch-up work before retexturing. Choices for your new texture range from common knockdown and orange peel all the way to premium smooth. After allowing the texture to dry for a day or two, depending on the air conditioning, time of year, and weather, we’ll return to paint your ceiling.

Clean up and paint

The hardest part of the job has been completed! After we apply your new texture, we’ll carefully remove all plastic from the walls and floor, making sure to contain the texture before disposing of it properly. When your texture is dry, our crew will return to prepare your space for painting. We ask that you leave your house the same way as the texture dries to make things simpler for everyone - that way, you don’t have to go through preparing the room again! Before we paint, we scrape and caulk the edges of the ceiling so it looks polished and professional. Then, we use a stain blocker to help prevent any yellowing from moisture content or bleeding from previous stains. After our stain-blocker is dry, we’re ready to reinstall your A/C vents, fan blades, and any other fixtures, leaving your room looking better than it did when we arrived. Our paint crew completes a final cleanup and our team leader will walk through your home with you to make sure you’re completely satisfied.
